Welcome!

This is the official website of Driver Education to Graduation program, founded by Michael Hopper, MSW and college counselor, in spring 2002.

Our Mission:

To support local youth to become legally eligible to drive.
To promote viable post-secondary options to students.
To assist high schools to reach beyond their goals regarding high school exit exams (CASHEE), via creative, effective workshops.

Driver Education to Graduation is a nonprofit program that subsidizes the costs of non-credit, driver education classes for high school students. We help students get driving permits and licenses, and more importantly, we contribute to each of our students’ successful high school graduation!

Our driver education classes are held after school on high school campuses. Our two-week sessions are presented after school Monday through Thursday with one to two Saturdays during the two-week period. The Saturday class is held off campus at a nearby community college, university or community center.

These driver education classes are an alternative to regular high school driver education classes for students who cannot get into regular high school driver education classes. Most schools offer only one or two classes for their entire student body, or none at all.

Students pay a nominal fee of $55 as a small contribution to their class registration to fulfill Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) state mandated requirements with a licensed instructor. These fees cover the instructor’s time, materials, overhead and future exit exam workshops. SCHOLARSHIPS are also available.

Upon completion, students receive a certificate of completion and all pertinent materials and information needed to pass the DMV’s written test. Finally, Driver Education to Graduation recommends affordable driving schools options for the six hours of required driver training for students to obtain their license before age 18.
